Markel Enters the Realm of Corporate Branding RICHMOND, VA- October 18, 2004- BrandSync has undertaken a brand strategy project on behalf of Markel. The purpose is to develop its corporate image and awareness among the customer channels of its company business units. Markel intends to develop an overall branding theme, competitive strategy, media plan, and other tactical initiatives, which will include how to measure success for brand marketing over time. The branding project has utilized both phone and web-based survey research to determine Markel's corporate awareness, reputation, and knowledge among customers of Markel's customers. In addition, qualitative research has been conducted through focus groups and in-depth interviews to explore and discover insights for branding development purposes, as well as to test marketing strategies and creative concepts. In order to raise awareness and improve perceptions, BrandSync has recently developed and tested branding themes based upon a brand position that is unique in the specialty insurance industry. As part of the project, BrandSync has also determined a process for measuring on-going improvement in recognition and knowledge of its businesses.
